Work permits
If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU or EEA, in order to be legally employed in Romania, you need a work permit.
The work permit is obtained from the General Inspectorate for Immigration.
Download the list of documents required to obtain a work permit for a permanent worker with a legal entity employer.
The work permit does not guarantee the foreign citizen the right to work anywhere in Romania, but only for a single company (which obtained the permit) and in a single position (COR code). A foreign citizen who transfers from one company to another in Romania must obtain a new work permit.
There are simplified conditions for foreigners who change their position or employer, provided that the single permit or EU Blue Card is valid.
Residence Permit – TRC
The temporary residence permit can be obtained by foreign citizens who entered Romania based on a visa.
The request must be registered at least 30 days before the expiration of the previous residence permit or before the expiration of the visa.
EU/EEA/Swiss Confederation citizens, as well as foreign citizens residing in Romania, can benefit from Transilvania Solutions’ support in obtaining temporary residence documents.
These include, depending on the situation: residence permits, residence cards, registration certificates, single permits or EU blue cards. Our team guides you every step of the way, ensuring a simple and efficient process.

Family reunion
If you work in Romania and want to bring your family with you, we can help you with the application process.

A. Family members, non-EU citizens.
The partner and children must obtain specific documents for family reunion (e.g. special approvals from the General Inspectorate for Immigration, long-stay visas type D, residence permits), if they accompany the foreign citizen during his/her stay in Romania. Children will obtain a residence permit, regardless of their age.
The procedures for family reunion can be initiated once the foreign citizen (sponsor) obtains the residence permit/EU Blue Card (the residence permit must be valid for at least two years). The marriage certificates and the birth certificates of the children must contain the Hague Apostille, or legalization stamps, as appropriate.
B. Family members, EU citizens.
EU citizens have the right to free movement and can travel to Romania without any formality (visa). They can register their residence in case of a stay longer than 3 months.
In order to register the stay and obtain a registration certificate in Romania, it is necessary that the marriage certificate and the birth certificates of the children have the Hague Apostille, or the over-legalization stamps, as the case may be.
